It's Enough

Property for a Ranch

Last night, Devin and I took a moment to stand out on our back deck and enjoy the clarity of a night sky in the country. While the commute is taking a little getting used to, we absolutely love the new house and property. What a joy it is to take a morning walk on the  land and get to know all the little parts to it.

It's amazing to look back and think about where we were mentally and emotionally just a little over a year ago, and then see how far we have come in that time and how much God has accomplished in us and through us. We both struggled with our own fears and reservations in thinking of following what God set before us, but after pushing through those moments of doubt (in mostly ourselves), we can stand on this side and say it has been completely worth every moment. The struggles and fears are not completely gone, since this is just the beginning of it all, but we have seen that the risks we thought were so huge and scary were moments God used to show us His faithfulness and providence.

Success for us, we have come to realize, is not in whether the Ranch is full of kids, horses, families, and mentors and has all of its financial needs met (although that would be amazing!).  When following God and doing what He has called us to do, I believe success is not when the end result turns out well but the act of obedience when you have no idea what the outcome will be.

So while taking a moment to reflect on all that has transpired and thinking about how this journey has been so good for me personally, for my marriage, and for our family, I whispered to Devin: "If this is as far as we ever get with the Ranch, it is enough."
