Christmas in the Apartment
We chose to use Pods containers for moving, and in looking at all of our stuff we realized very quickly that we would need two of their large containers. We had to split up all of the things in our house between what would go into the apartment and what would go into storage. While packing, I was feeling pretty good about myself in the fact that I remembered to set aside some Christmas decorations for apartment. However once we began to decorate for Christmas, I found that what I actually set aside in separate boxes was not exactly what I thought I packed. But with a little creativity and use of space we've turned our apartment into a cozy , warmly lit place.
The stockings are hung a wall in the dining room instead of by fireplace but the point is that they are hung. And since being in a temporary apartment in a new city and going to new schools and having new routines can be overwhelming at times, it has been so great to look up and see the familiar stockings and ornaments we hold so dear. It's reminded us that home is not necessarily a building or place but where we are together. The space of the apartment might limit the amount of decorations, but it doesn't limit the experience and the excitement. And, as we say often, Christmas is about so much more than decorations anyway. It's about a Savior who came to us and offers us Love and Hope. Merry Christmas from our Christmas corner to yours!
